Albania concluded Tuesday a three year long intensive program with the International Monetary Fund.

Three years before Albanian government accepted to have a monitoring agreement with the IMF in exchange of a € 330 million loan.

IMF’s chief of mission for Albania, Anita Tuladhar, considered as successful the cooperation with Albanian institutions. She said that IMF was ready to reach another agreement with the new government following June’s general elections.

“The program has been successful but still there are things to be done,” she said speaking about the “strengthening of the tax administration” and “establishing property tax”.

Albanian Minister of Finance Arben Ahmetaj said he is confident that the future Albanian cabinet will reach a new agreement with the IMF.

Tuladhar said that Albania must be careful on budgetary spending, public debt and with the dangers coming from concessions./tvklan.al
