Albanian population is on the rise for the first time since 2001, according to INSTAT, or Albanian Institute of Statistics.

The institute said Monday that Albanian population reached 2.88 million on Jan. 1, 2017.

According to the data, Albania’s population rose by 1,000 people in 2016, due to the increase in fertility.

The institute said that Albania’s population rose to 2.876.591 in Jan.1, 2017 up from 2.875.592 in Jan. 1, 2016.

It also said that 32,000 children were born during 2016 while 21,000 people died.

On the other hand, 33,000 albanian left Albania for another country during 2016, down from 41,000 that left the country during 2015. /tvklan.al
