A private religious high school teacher in Albania was arrested Thursday on charges of spreading the ISIS propaganda, authorities said.

Albanian police sources said the teacher Emine Alushi was arrested Thursday morning in northern city of Shkodra and sent to testify in capital Tirana, where the case is to be investigated by the Prosecution Office for Serious Crimes. She is accused of promoting and spreading radical propaganda.

In a video footage aired Wednesday in Klan Television, the teacher is heard saying “ISIS is a Muslim organization willing to protect Muslim population of Syria, or Palestine or Egypt. They are fighting for these countries.”

“They are good by the state wants to fight them,” the teacher said, when asked by her students if ISIS was a Muslim and a good organization.

The video footage was filmed a long time before, when she was a substitute teacher at the Shkodra Madrasa, institution’s director Kujtim Dervishi said Thursday at a news conference.

Dervishi said the madrasa distances itself from teacher’s comments and that this was not the official line of the institution.

Despite Albanian Muslim leaders have denounced ISIS as a terrorist organization; scores of Albanians are believed to have joined the fighting in Syria and Iraq, some of which have died there./tvklan.al
