Bangladesh recognized Kosovo as an independent and sovereign country, Dhaka Tribune said Monday.

The newspaper said that Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed the reporters on the decision after the regular cabinet meeting at the secretariat on Monday.

With this approval, Bangladesh becomes 114th country to recognize Kosovo’s independence.

Kosovo declared its independence on Feb, 17, 2008 and has been recognized by 114 countries, including the U.S., Germany, France, Britain and Italy.

Serbia insists to not recognize the youngest country in Europe and is trying to block its membership at international organizations.

Kosovo has managed to become part of FIFA and UEFA last year but still is not a UN member country. /tvklan.al
