Just like his political opponent, Lulzim Basha also showed the Constitution to US Ambassador Donald Lu when asked about the diplomatic stand on the election of the interim Chief Prosecutor.

“I have not commented and never comment on foreign ambassadors. Personally, I can not imagine anyone from the diplomatic corps, anybody, to ask the Assembly to violate the Constitution or to ask the Assembly not to go to the General Prosecutor’s Office because it would be not only unconscious but would was a knife in the spine of justice reform, for which have contributed in particular to all representatives of the international factor”.

In a conversation with journalists Basha said that the basic state law leaves no room for a transitional or temporary prosecution. The chief prosecutor, says Basha, is defined in the Constitution that can not be resolved without passing the verdict.

“The Constitution leaves no room for temporary transit or temporary prosecution. An insured term in violation of the Constitution is null, void. The prosecutor is elected by the PPL with 3/5 of the votes of vetting, are constitutional defenses. The Assembly has only one role to vote on three of the candidacies that the PJC brings. The country must have a chief prosecutor, who is in office should be in charge, otherwise he will commit a criminal offense”.

Basha invited Prime Minister Rama to withdraw from what he called constitutional coup, warning of confrontation with citizens./tvklan.al
