After the approval by the parliament,  government vowed in front of President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, then to be followed by the first cabinet meeting.

President Ilir Meta made a short speech shortly after the end of the oath of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his ministers. Meta congratulated the government “Rama 2” and reminded them of the tasks ahead.

“I would like to wish you all the most positive results and wish you more success in the work  ahead. Albania and Albanians expect the new government, the new parliament and the opposition to have the greatest responsibility to face the challenges ahead.”

I would like to emphasize that Albania’s membership in the EU is an aspiration to hope that the government and the opposition will cooperate for opening EU negotiations as soon as possible.

The modernization of the armed forces is a necessity for our country and our role in NATO. I believe that the new government will work more with our neighbors and the region.

I am delighted that the new government has dubbed 2018 as Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg’s year and I would like to assure you of the support of this Institution on your initiative.

Our national hero Scanderbeg is the symbol of the unity and power of the nation that at all times has united Albanians regardless of religion, province and idea.

And today what we need more for Albanians here and everywhere is the union and cooperation in the best interests of our citizens and our nation.
