Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn which was present at the EU conference on press freedom in the Balkans, said that the country should move forward along with press freedom. He said that guaranteeing media freedom is a non-negotiable condition for the EU.
“I want to emphasize that media freedom will always remain in essence. Media freedom is essential to the European Union and is therefore a non-negotiable condition for the EU, to any country that wants to become part of it”.
The Commissioner said that politicians should guarantee this freedom, while on the other hand stressed that the media itself should have quality in reporting. Criticism, he said, should be based on facts and arguments./tvklan.al
