The  daily  Italian newspaper ‘La Repubblica’ dedicated an article to Albania focusing on its natural beauties and country’s rich culture. The article evidences the fact that Albania is gradually becoming Italians’ favorite tourist destination.

According to ‘La Repubblica’ the number of Italian tourists that visited Albania from January to July was 56% higher compared to the past year.

“Years ago, those traveling on the Balkan peninsula should bypass Albania in order to continue their journey. Today, in this country that has left behind a 46-year-old communist regime that is isolated from the rest of the world, we find a tourist destination. The nearness to the sea and the cheap living costs, from January to July 2017, convinced 182,000 Italians, 56% more than last year, to spend holidays at the Eagles Country. The South and Saranda beaches, especially, are the ones that are most preferred and overcrowded during the peak season of the summer season. Also part of the itineraries of visitors are the archaeological site of Butrint and the cities of Gjirokastra and Berat, which preserve and show the past. While the North is less explored, it provides amazing natural landscapes, which for the moment have saved the modernizing hand that is changing Albania’s reputation.”

The prestigious Italian newspaper invites the readers to visit Albania from North to South.

Southern Albanian resting places, where Saranda ranks in the first place, are the most popular during summer season. The Northern Albania is less visited despite the fact that it offers some spectacular panoramas that detach the visitors from the burst of modernity that has engulfed Albania.

Shkodra, Theth, Butrint, Gjirokastra, Berat and Koman are also at the focus of this reportage while a special section is dedicated to the traditional cuisine.
