President Ilir Meta congratulated newly elected Montenegro’s president Djukanovic for winning the presidential elections this Sunday.
“Your victory was a clear support for consolidating the country’s Euro-Atlantic and European orientation, as well as guarantees for further strengthening of peace and regional co-operation
”, Meta said in his message for Djukanovic.
A veteran politician and former Prime Minister, Djukanovic was a major player in Montenegro’s politics from 1991 to 2016 and announced he would return to politics last month as a “responsibility for Montenegro’s future”.
Meta expressed the conviction that during Djukanovic’s mandate, excellent relations and good neighborliness between the two countries will be strengthened and expanded further.
“I guarantee you my willingness and desire to work closely with you in the future, in the interest of strengthening this cooperation, but also for strengthening the peace, stability and development of our common region, where our two countries are giving an an excellent example”
