On the second day of his official visit to Italy, President Ilir Meta met with Italian Senate President Pietro Grasso.

At the meeting with Senate President, President Meta praised the excellent traditional relations of a special strategic partnership and specifically focused on the common will to increase and further expand the co-operation and coordination between the lawmakers of the two countries.

Both interlocutors praised the excellent cooperation between the two countries’ structures in the fight against organized crime and narcotics trafficking in order to achieve more results in this regard.

President Meta and Mr. Grasso emphasized that only through increased cooperation, timely exchange of information and undertaking well-coordinated actions between the two countries, but also with other partner countries and organizations, these challenges and threats can be successfully met.

President also had a meeting with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament, Laura Boldrinin, with whom he held a warm and friendly conversation.

President Meta praised the excellent relations of the strategic partnership between the two countries, and expressed the determination to promote and further strengthen them in all areas.

According to a press release of the Office of the President, Meta expressed gratitude for the latest support that Mrs. Boldrini personally provided in resolving the issue of the elimination of the tax on Albanian means of transport that transit the Italian territory. 

 President Meta and Mrs Boldrini paid special attention to regional cooperation and the so far progress of this cooperation. President Meta praised Italy’s role and real contribution to the peace, stability and integration of the countries of the region in the European Union and stressed that Italy’s greater political, institutional and economic engagement in the Balkan region would be very welcomed. / Tv Klan
