President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, has rejected the request of Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati for giving power over the negotiations expected to take place with Greece for border demarcation.

In a public letter, Meta says the request does not clearly define the object of negotiations for which a Plenipotence Authorization is required and that it is not accompanied by any explanatory documents such as maps.

According to Meta, the concrete elements of the negotiating object are unclear. He contends that there were technical-level negotiations in the past for which no information was provided.

President says the negotiating team should be expanded and the president’s institution should be part of the negotiations.

Meta considers the request regarding the negotiating team and its composition incomplete and unfounded in the Constitution.

Another point is the issue of standards and methodology to be used for negotiation./tvklan.al
