Presidenti Ilir Meta started today an official visit in Germany by the invitation of his counterpart.

“The President of the Republic, Mr. Ilir Meta starts today an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany invited by his counterpart, Frank-Walter Steimeier,”

the head of state’s press office said in a briefing for the media.

This visit coincides with the 30th anniversary of the resettlement of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

After the ceremonial reception at the Schloss Bellevue Presidential Palace and the official meeting, attended by the Minister of State for Europe at the German Foreign Ministry, Michael Roth, the two presidents gave a joint press conference.

In a statement distributed by the head of state’s press office, it is said that the President of the Republic emphasized during the meeting and press conference that

“Albania attaches a very special importance to relations with Germany and this visit will serve to strengthen the further to them. I am very pleased to note that President Steinmeier has a special focus on Albania and the Albanians.”

“Today’s relations are excellent and of a strategic co-operation, which has strengthened in these 30 years, creating an excellent prospective and a very good climate for extending cooperation in all the areas,”

President Meta said.

Steinmeier highly appreciated the relations between Germany and Albania, underlining that this visit, from the first of President Meta abroad, is the best testimony of these special relations.

The German president praised Albania’s extremely important role as a factor of stability in the region and as a reliable partner in the fight against international terrorism, organized crime and violent extremism.

The President of the Republic also invited President Steinmeier for an official visit to Albania, an invitation that was received with pleasure. /tvklan.al
