US Ambassador Donald Lu has welcomed the resignation as MP of former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri which will now be investigated without the shield of immunity.
“Investigations continue against Saimir Tahiri and (former Chief Prosecutor) Adriatik Llalla. No one is above the law! We welcome the fact that Tahiri will face justice as a simple citizen, without immunity”
, Lu said on Friday during an activity.
He mentioned Tahiri’s name on a long list of officials, former officials and dangerous traffickers which are under investigation, as he urged civil society to continue contributing to show how harmful they are to the society.
Ambassador Lu’s comments come a day after the former Interior Minister criticized some foreign diplomats in Albania, without mentioning names, saying “some were corrupted, and some undertake the role of prosecutor and judge speaking here and there about mafia and Albanian gangs”./tvklan.al
