The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta acknowledges that Albania is under EU monitoring regarding the progress of the citizens free traveling in the Schengen area.

“Kosovo fully deserves visas liberalization. This state’s isolation is totally unfair. However, issuing Albanian passports to the Kosovo citizens would only hamper the Albanian citizens fr

ee traveling  in Schengen countries on view of the fact that we are constantly monitored by the EU”,

said President Meta.

The head of state’s statement also comes as a response to his Kosovo counterpart’s appeal, Hashim Thaci, to Meta to provide Albanian passports to Kosovo citizens so they can travel free.

Currently, Kosovo is the only country in the region that has not yet benefited from European visa liberalization policies./tvklan.al
