11 persons involved in drugs smuggling, have been arrested as a result of an international operation between Italian, Albanian and Spanish police.

The criminal group includes Albanian residents in Rome and Italian citizens. Cocaine was smuggled from Spain and the Netherlands to Italy. After it was distributed in the main neighborhoods of Rome and other Italian cities.

During the anti-drug operation in Rome 4 kg of pure cocaine were seized.

Meanwhile, Albanian police in a statement to the media highlighted that Mario Ç, 38, from Lushnja city has been arrested.

“NADIR” operation

Today, on 15 February 2018, the State Police has finalised an international anti-drug operation code-named “NADIR”. Investigations were conducted in cooperation with Italian Police and “Carabinieri” of Roma Centro Company. The criminal group was comprised of Albanian and Italian engaged in the trafficking of narcotic drugs of the cocaine type imported from Spain and the Netherlands to smuggle in the main squares of the Lacio and Puglia areas.

State Police are in cooperation and in full coordination with the Italian Police The Interforce Office, in Albania and with the Carabinieri counterpartners in Rome, through the direct communication channels of the two Police have made possible in the Italian state to issue arrest warrants against 11 persons, eight of them in custody and three in house arrest charged of narcotics trafficking.

During this operation 4kg of pure cocaine were seized, 1kg of hashish and 36.000 Euros in cash.

This criminal group smuggled considerable amounts of pure cocaine, which was transported by selected couriers. Drugs were then smuggled in the Italian cities such as Rome, Frosinone, and Foggia.

The joint investigation has made it possible to prosecute 31 persons, of whom 12 were arrested in flagrance.

In the early hours of today’s morning it was possible to arrive at the same time in Italy of 6 Albanian citizens, 1 Italian and 1 Romanian resident in Italy and in Albania of an Albanian citizen Mario Ç, 38, from Lushnja city on the accusation of participation in the organization criminal and narcotics trafficking.

The two Police organizations are working intensively to capture the other elements involved in trafficking and for the secrecy reasons  we do not provide any other information.

State Police are maximally engaged in attacking criminal groups both inside and outside the country, backed by its partners and providing security in a credible and successful cooperation.
