US Ambassador in Tirana, Donald Lu, is closing his mandate pleading to the politics to arrest Kelmend Balili.
“I want to emphasize a failure of the government, the prosecution and the police, the failure to arrest Kelmend Balili. Balili is a powerful boss of organized crime with political ties. For two years the police, government and prosecutors weren’t capable or didn’t want to arrest him. No one is above the law. We call on Prime Minister Rama, Minister Xhafaj, police and prosecutors to continue the fight against organized crime without mercy”
, ambassador Lu said.
The prime minister who was present in the same organized activity to analyze the achievements of the “Power of Law”operation, expressed gratitude to Lu for the persistence to denounce this case. But the ambassador, and all the other ambassadors present, remembers Balili’s links with politics, without specifying who they belong to, which, according to him, makes it difficult to capture the so-called “drug baron”.
“Undoubtedly, arresting this character of the world of crime is a great necessity and success. It was two years ago, he was a politically linked director. Today in cooperation with partners, he will be caught, although it is not easy”,
