Angry protesters against the Nation’s Road toll fee have completely destroyed the counters recently raised by concessionaires.

After clashes between protesters and police forces at the beginning of the protest, blue forces pulled out leaving free space to protesters.

Citizens from Albania and Kosovo gathered on Saturday in a joint protest at the entrance of the Kalimashi Tunnel, determined to deliver their message against the Nation’s Road toll fee.

They threw stones against officers who had created a protection cordon around the toll booths and offices of the company that is appointed by the government for the road’s maintenance.

Police forces seem to have been unprepared in front of of large numbers of protesters.

The government announced a few days ago that Albania’s first toll road would have a 5 EUR fee for small passenger cars, with the price progressively increasing for heavier vehicles, up to 22 EUR./tvklan.al
