Tirana, Shkodra, Durrës and Vlora are the cities where the crime rated higher during 2017.

According to official statistics of the Ministry of Justice, a total of 15,102 criminal cases were registered in the Albanian courts last year, out of which 12,398 were completed. According to statistics of the Ministry, it results that during 2017, 146 crimes were committed per 100,000 inhabitants.

The judges have found 10,355 guilty persons, 443 innocent, while 1,397 cases have been ceased. From the data analysis, it is noticed that 49% of all crimes that are judged in the country are those of wealth and the economic sphere, which have experienced a growth compared to the previous year. The courts have tried 123 murders or murder attempts, 835 cases of domestic violence, 37 kidnappings and 55 rapes.

Another important thing is the reduction of appealed criminal cases. Only 32.5 of them have passed to the second instance of the judiciary, and in most cases by the defendants themselves rather than the prosecutor. Compared to the previous year, the number of appeals was 1,152 less./tvklan.al
