Opposition’s leader, Lulzim Basha, has declared the civilian disobedience as a way to protest against the government.

Speaking to the media, Basha appealed to all citizens not to pay the increased government toll fees and the new taxes.

The Democratic Party leader accused Prime Minister Edi Rama for sending the country to the “verge of economic and social abyss”.

“We have come up with a unanimous decision, along with the Albanian citizens, along with the simple people of this country who are being robbed. Along with all the Albanians who are being hit by the new property tax today. Albania is on the verge of an economic and social abyss. The cause is Edi Rama who rules through illicit purposes, who continues to govern with gangs and a group of oligarchs.

There is no democracy in this country. The government violates the Constitution without responding to anyone and without any consequence. This is the end and the capturing of the judicial reform. There are no more rules of a democratic game. The only thing to do is civilian disobedience, and it will start this week by refusing any tax that has been increased by Edi Rama, with all steps of civilian disobedience as the highest form of political and civilian action against a government that is emptying Albania from its people”,
