The US Embassy in Tirana has reacted to the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama for a joint President of Albania and Kosovo. In its post, the United States diplomatic headquarters does not hide the frustration for this stance, saying these allegations do not serve good neighborly relations.

“The United States Embassy was disappointed by Prime Minister Rama’s remarks about Kosovo and Albania on the occasion of Kosovo’s 10th Anniversary of Independence. Careless language alluding to unification is unhelpful and damaging to Albania’s relationships with its neighbors. We call on all leaders to be good neighbors and abandon the divisive language of the past”.

The prime minister himself explained the day before that all he had said about a President of National Unity was a misunderstanding and a statement extracted from the context.

Prime Minister Rame’s statements on the 10th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence were also commented in Belgrade and Brussels. Serbian government ministers demanded the non-grate announcement of the Albanian prime minister, while the European Commission spokeswoman said statements that could be interpreted as political interference in neighboring countries do not help build good neighborly relations./tvklan.al
