Skopje has revealed Moscow’s destabilizing efforts to prevent Macedonia’s NATO membership. Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev says Russian businessmen supporting Russia are giving huge amounts of money to cause violent protests in Macedonia. Zaev adds that they are trying to stop the referendum which will pave the way to the implementation of the agreement with Greece on Macedonia’s name.

Speaking to US online media Buzzfeed, Zaev said foreign businessmen pay up to 21 thousand Euros for individuals who stimulate instability.

“Representatives of Russia here and others from Moscow do not hide that are against our integration into NATO. Some of them are related to the media. Others encourage young people to protest in front of parliament, attack police … this is very obvious”.

Last week, Greek authorities drove two Russian diplomats and banished two others. Athens unveiled their efforts to corrupt MPs, politicians, clerics, and Orthodox clerics to raise voice against the Athens-Skopje agreement on Macedonia’s new name. Skopje received the invitation to join NATO, but without this agreement being implemented, Macedonia cannot become a member.

The Montenegrin authorities also arrested two Russian nationals, who were trying to cause instability to block NATO membership in June last year./tvklan.al
