Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha stated that the positions of the International Monetary Fund are alarming and its presence in the country is essential, considering the situation that the Albanian economy is going through these days.

“It’s an adventurous act of Edi Rama, to be realistic, he did not mind the economy. Parliament should have the right to speak, because it is the one who has approved the agreement and should decide whether the IMF should or should not remain.”

In an interview for ABC News, Berisha says the risk warned by the Fund on concessions and public private partnerships, denounced by the opposition on an ongoing basis, is evident. It envisages overcoming the debt over 80%.

“He raised the debt from 62.4 percent to 73.6 percent, and the truth is that with its operations and initiatives over the past two years, the debt, according to the IMF with a 1m check, is up 7 points more, so it reaches 80 percent. But the truth is that the debt of concessions will be added here too and the debt is in the 83 to 85 percent.”

Berisha said that Albania’s position with the IMF can not be decided by the government, but by parliament with the vote. He is opposed to setting VAT for small business, while for economic growth says the government is based on money generated by drugs./tvklan.al
