Three days before the deadline for decreeing the National Theater law, President Meta decides to turn it back for re-examination at the assembly. His decision not to decree the initiative that opens the way to the demolition of the current theater building and the implementation of the Fusha Project, according to the President is based on 8 points.

According to him, this law violates the principles of “equality before the law” and “freedom of citizens’ economic activity”, principles that, in the president’s view, have got a special protection from the Constitution.

“In the concrete case, it turns out that the request for expression of interest presented by the proposing company has been assessed a priori as the best proposition, thus making automatic acceptance of the fact that this is the best proposal, but in the concrete case, without any open and transparent competition procedure”.

Meta argues that this law is not in harmony with the fundamental constitutional principles of national identity and national heritage and is in contravention of the principles of the European Convention on the Intangible Cultural Heritage, adopted in Paris in 2003./tvklan.al
