“A dignified act. It is the first one of this type in history. Respectful.”

While appreciating Tahiri’s decision, Prime Minister Edi Rama does not comment on charges the former minister made during his resignation statement.

“I do not judge anything that is said. This is a case that is clearly defined 6 months ago that it is a matter between him and the prosecution”.

In an interview for the talk show “Opinion” at TV Klan, Rama says he did not know earlier about Tahiri’s decision and that this was not a request from the head of government.

Rama clarifies that this move has nothing to do with the opening of negotiations.

“This is not related to the opening of negotiations”.

Tahiri’s statements were not commented either by Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj, who was accused by his successor.

Former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri is not part of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group since October 23, 2017 shortly after Parliament rejected the Prosecution’s request to authorize the arrest for “narcotics trafficking within the structured criminal group” and “corruption of senior officials”./tvklan.al
