President Ilir Meta, at a press conference on Tuesday, reminded Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati, Prime Minister Edi Rama and all institutions that the Constitutional Court’s verdict after the 2009 agreement is the red line mandatory to be implemented in maritime negotiations with Greece.

“The constitution and the Constitutional Court’s verdict on this issue are not only for the President of the Republic, but for all Albanian institutions involved in this process, the red line is mandatory for implementation”,

 said Meta.

He said:

“I was forced today out of my desire to make public the response to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in order to clarify the public opinion on this very important issue, the most discussed of the last decade”.

Meta stressed the support and commitment for a fair and definitive solution to this issue, “therefore full transparency must be obtained from all institutions”.

“On this occasion, I would like to underline that the stance and contribution of the President will be based only in accordance with the Constitution and the Constitutional Court’s verdicts on the maritime spaces between Albania and Greece”./
