Kosovo will have a dedicated terminal at Albanian city port of Durres within a month, Albanian and Kosovo senior ministers said Wednesday.

Kosovo Minister of Finance Abdullah Hoti said that “within mid-February Albania and Kosovo will open a joint terminal at the port of Durres.”

Speaking at a joint press conference in Tirana, Albanian minister of Finance Arben Ahmetaj said that any licensed Kosovo business will move freely and directly toward Kosovo after the customs clearance in the port of Durres.

A joint working group with experts from Albania and Kosovo is working to complete procedures for the terminal that will be exclusively used by the Kosovo businesses.

Kosovo, a country of 1,8 million people, over 90 per cent of which Kosovo Albanians, is a landlocked country without access at sea.

Despite the measures taken by the respective governments to increase imports and exports among two countries, the trade exchanges decreased during 2016.

Ahmetaj said the ministry experts were analyzing the reasons of the decrease in trade exchanges./tvklan.al
