Prime Minister Edi Rama, in presence of EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn, invited the opposition to reach consensus on the EU negotiations.

Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn thinks that the EC and Albania have no time to waste for opening the negotiations next year. Hahn was particularly focused on the Justice Reform and the situation created with the Albanian School of Magistrates.

He urged the opposition to give consensus and not to leave the justice system without judges.

“It is the duty of the government and opposition to implement the Justice Reform Act quickly. It’s ironic that the vetting has brought a situation where we do not have judges. That would be a disaster”

.

During the press conference, the Commissioner for Enlargement, took advantage to give another message regarding Justice Reform and, in particular, the vetting process.

Aware that the preparatory work for the negotiations is not an easy process, the prime minister said that even if Albania got the green light, the country would go through the same process. Chairman of the delegation for co-operation on behalf of the Albanian government will be Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati.

The meeting of Commissioner Hahn and President Meta was also focused on the EU negotiations, where comprehensiveness and credibility were considered key elements for further progress in reforms./tvklan.al
