The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, received a congratulatory message from the President of the United States, Donald Trump:

As you celebrate the 105th anniversary of Independence on November 28, the United States joins me in congratulating the Albanian people. On this day we confirm our strong friendship and dedication to Albania and we expect to further strengthen this relationship over the next few years.
Our two nations have developed a profound cooperation that has allowed us to work together to address issues of global importance. We thank you for your role as a decisive partner in promoting regional sustainability and the fight against extremism and your support around the world as a NATO Ally and a member of the ISIS Destruction Coalition.
This year we welcomed Albania’s implementation of key justice reforms, which have brought the country closer to the goal of joining the European Union and greater regional co-operation. We commend the progress that Albania has made towards the Euro-Atlantic integration and the provision of peace and prosperity for all Albanians.
