For the Albanian President, Ilir Meta, the position of Greek counterpart Prokopis Pavlopoulos for the “Cham issue” does not bring positive energy. In an interview , President Meta says the statements made a few days ago by the Greek head of state do not respond to the partnership and advocates maintaining mutual calm and respect. Further, the head of the Albanian state stresses that these statements are not in line with those of the Albanian Foreign Minister Bushati and the Greek Kotzias.

“Of course, there may be certain issues on which we can share different attitudes, but that does not mean that we should lose the peace of communication with each other and influence the vital cooperation between our two countries”,

Meta said.

Speaking at a summit held at the Larissa military base, Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos threatened to discuss the ‘Cham issue’ in negotiations with Greece could endanger Albania’s EU membership. For the Greek president, the Cham issue does not exist, and the position of the Albanian government on this issue, according to him, is unacceptable.

Meanwhile, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kocias during a televised debate on Greek public television ERT a few weeks ago denied having spoken so far about the Cham issue in the ongoing negotiations with Albania to resolve the problems of the past./tvklan.al
