Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced a cabinet reshuffling, changing four ministers, including the minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri.

The move comes as Albanian opposition has occupied the boulevard in front of the Prime Ministry Building since Feb. 18, calling Edi Rama to resign in favor of a caretaker government that would guarantee free and fair elections.

But, Rama said that the reshuffling has nothing to do with opposition’s protest or with minister’s performance. He said the reshuffling was linked only with scheduled June 18 general elections in Albania, as the replaced ministers will be Socialist Party’s coordinators in key Albanian regions.

Albanian PM announced Monday that Fatmir Xhafaj will replace Saimir Tahiri at the post of Interior Minister; Olta Xhaka will replace Blendi Klosi at the Minister of Youth and Social Welfare; Ogerta Manastirliu will replace Ilir Beqja as Health Minister and Eduart Shalsi will replace Bledi Cuci at the post of Minister of State for Local Government./tvklan.al
