The level of unemployment in Albania has fallen by 1.5 percentage points for the first six months of this year, compared to the previous year. The official unemployment rate, according to INSTAT, is 12.4%, marking a reduction in the number of unemployed by 28.500.

The decline trajectory of the unemployment rate has continued for the seventh consecutive quarter, supported by two important branches: industry and services.

In the industry sector, employment increased by 7.1%, services by 3.4, while in agriculture by 1.2%.

Again, youth unemployment keeps the main weight on the number of unemployed. 22% of young people aged 15-29 have not yet found a job and 5.6% of them are classified as discouraged.

INSTAT compiles the labor force survey based on the interviews conducted in the categories available for work. This survey considers employed farmers in the agricultural sector that produce for their own consumption, the self-employed who intend to return to the business they have had and the people who work free of charge, but who can become a work force after 3 months./tvklan.al
