Constitutional Court has dismissed Arben Frroku’s request for retrial leaving in vigor Supreme Court for Serious Crimes verdict that convicted Frroku to life imprisonment for killing police officer Dritan Lamaj.
Frroku claimed that the Supreme Court had violated the law, as his defense arguments weren’t heard. But Constitutional Court has dismissed this request stating that the verdict is fully legally based.
Arben Frroku was arrested in 2014 for the murder of police officer Dritan Lamaj on 24 February of that year. At the end of the trial at the first instance court for Serious Crimes he was declared innocent.
But on June 29, 2015, the Court of appeal for Serious Crimes dismissed the sentence by sentencing Frroku to life imprisonment. Frroku was casually arrested in Netherlands in March 2016.
Albanian authorities have required extradition, which is expected to happen after the end of judicial proceedings launched by Arben Frroku in the Netherlands./tvklan.al
