Former Defense Minister, Luan Hajdaraga passed away on Monday at the age of 69.

Despite specialized treatment in Turkey, his health condition was severed. For his treatment the government granted a fund of 1.9 million ALL, but health problems persisted even after coming back in Albania.

Hajdaraga leaves behind a rich academic and political career. He was one of the most prominent figures of Albanian politics after the 90s. With the pluralism, he was engaged with the Socialist Party by becoming its vice-president. For some legislatures served as deputy of the Albanian Parliament, while leading the Ministry of Defense in 1998-2000, a delicate period related to the war in Kosovo and the crisis management.

After the 2000s he withdrew from active politics, giving his contribution as lecturer at the Faculty of Natural Sciences./tvklan.al
